Conventions

Throughout this document the following conventions will be used:

Text appearing in normal and Bold fonts, such as this are instruction and narrative.

Text appearing in typewriter fonts, such as:

C-Kermit 5A(188), 23 Nov 92, SunOS 4.1 (BSD)

represents text which the computer prints.

Text appearing in italic typewriter fonts, such as:

telnet uhura.cc.rochester.edu

represents text you type at the computer keyboard.

The symbols [RETURN] and [CR] both mean that you are to press the carriage return key on your keyboard. The symbol [CONTROL-X] means that you should hold down the control key while pressing the x key.
